Child labourers take break for a trip to Parque Historico
One hundred kids who are part of a government program for the eradication of child labour took a day off at the Parque Historico.
The Ministry of Social and Economic Inclusion (MIES) invited the children and their parents on the field trip to the Guayaquil park which has wildlife enclosures, as well as historic structures and museum exhibits that celebrate the Coast’s culture.
Most of the children on the field trip work collecting recyclables, crab fishing, in agriculture and as street vendors.
The government workers are trying to encourage educational and recreational activities in their lives to cut down on their work hours until child labour in Ecuadorian society is eradicated.
