The government agency investing $4 million dollars in Ecuador’s artisans has already spent almost 95 percent of its budget.

The money has gone towards training and certifying thousands of craftspeople in fields as varied as carpentry, tagua production, and textiles.

About 28 percent of Ecuador’s economically active population consists of craftspeople.
