Ministry creates jobs website for people with disabilities
In 2012, 28,000 people with disabilities entered Ecuador’s workforce. This Monday, the ministry of labour launched a web portal targeted at this group of workers.
The site contains information specific to workers who have entered the labour force since the creation of a government program in 2010 to eliminate unemployment for people with disabilities.
The website has features that ease its use by people with visual impairment, hearing impairment or mental disabilities. Hovering a cursor over the category buttons prompts a voice to vocalize the button’s title.
The site is also pared down, with a simplified colour scheme, larger typefaces and shorter content organized in a concise system.
There is a link to the site from the main page of the ministry’s website, or can be found at http://discapacidades.mrl.gob.ec/
