Cher speaks about Chevron/Texacos toxic legacy in Ecuador

An Ecuadorian YouTube channel called "toxica_realidad" has shared a video message recorded by Cher about oil contamination in the Ecuadorian jungle.

Cher says in the video that the Exxon Valdez disaster and the BP oil spill "pale in comparison" to what Texaco did to Ecuador during the decades it operated in the country. Indigenous groups have won a $19 billion judgment against Chevron for contamination they caused in the Amazon, but the company is fighting the verdict and has yet to pay any portion of the damages.

"As a Californian, I wont feel right about Chevron until they make it right for their victims in the Amazon," she says, encouraging an American boycott of the company:
